Do you offer free gutter estimates?
Yes. Maine Gutter Works offers free estimates. During the walk-around, we can review the visible rooflines, existing gutters, outlets, downspouts, discharge areas, and the problem you are seeing.
What areas do you serve?
We are based in Lisbon Falls and serve communities across Central and Southern Maine. Contact us with your town and a short description of the project so we can confirm current service availability.
How do I know which gutter service I need?
You do not need to diagnose the system before contacting us. Tell us whether you are seeing overflow, clogs, sagging, leaks, foundation splashback, driveway ice, or a home with no gutters. We can help you determine whether the likely next step is cleaning, guards, adjustment, repair, or new installation.
You can also review our gutter services overview for a simple comparison.
Can I send photos of the problem?
Ground-level photos can help explain a problem that appears only during a storm or winter thaw. Contact us first, and we can tell you the best way to share them. Do not climb a ladder or go onto an icy roof to take pictures.
Seamless Gutter FAQ: Installation and Materials
This seamless gutter FAQ section covers the product, fabrication, color, timeline, and fascia questions homeowners commonly ask before requesting installation.

What does “seamless gutter” mean?
A seamless gutter is formed in a continuous length for each straight roofline instead of being assembled from many short sections. That reduces mid-run joints, but corners, end caps, outlets, and downspout transitions still require careful fitting and sealing.
Are your gutters made on site?
Yes. We form our seamless aluminum gutter runs on site so they can be measured for the roofline where they will be installed.
What size and material do you use?
Our standard residential system uses .032 aluminum in a 5-inch cased, or K-style, profile. We use aluminum from Englert with its Castleclad finish system.
What colors are available?
White is our standard option, with additional special-order colors available. We avoid listing a fixed total here because product availability may change. We can review current choices during the estimate.
How long does gutter installation take?
Timing depends on the size and height of the home, roof complexity, access, weather, removal needs, and any hidden conditions found after old gutters come down. We will discuss the expected installation window as part of the project scope.
What happens if the fascia is damaged?
We review visible fascia and mounting conditions during the estimate and installation. If we find soft, rotted, or unsuitable material that could affect the new gutter, we will explain the concern before proceeding in that area.

Gutter Guard Questions
DUMMY
DUMMY
What type of gutter guards do you install?
We install stainless steel micro-mesh GutterGuards® by Gutterglove. The mesh is designed to reduce leaves, pine needles, roof grit, and other debris entering the gutter.
Do gutter guards eliminate cleaning forever?
No. Guards can reduce cleaning needs and make maintenance easier, but debris can still collect on top of the mesh, near valleys, or around roof transitions. Periodic checks remain important.
Are gutter guards useful under pine trees?
Micro-mesh guards can be a practical option under pine cover because the openings are small enough to block many needles and fine debris. Performance still depends on proper fit and a sound gutter system beneath the guard.
Can guards be installed on existing gutters?
Often, yes, if the gutters are stable, properly pitched, and in suitable condition. We inspect the existing system first and explain any cleaning, adjustment, or repair needs before installation.
Do gutter guards solve ice dams?
No. Ice dams are usually connected to heat loss, air leakage, insulation, ventilation, and uneven roof temperatures. Guards are part of the drainage system, not a substitute for correcting the building conditions that cause recurring ice dams.

Gutter Cleaning Questions
DUMMY
DUMMY
How often should gutters be cleaned in Maine?
There is no single schedule for every home. Tree cover, roof valleys, wind exposure, roof grit, and guard use all affect how quickly debris returns. Many homes benefit from checks after major leaf drop and before winter, while homes under heavy pine or mixed tree cover may need more frequent attention.
What are the signs of a clogged gutter?
Common signs include water spilling over the edge, little water leaving a downspout during rain, visible plants or debris, stains below the roofline, and ice forming near outlets or downspout discharge areas.
Can clogged gutters cause foundation splashback?
Yes. When water spills over instead of reaching the downspout, it may land close to the foundation, wash out soil or mulch, and create persistent wet areas. The result also depends on grading and where the water travels after reaching the ground.
Should gutters be cleaned before guards are installed?
Yes. The gutter and outlet path should be clear before guards are placed over the system. Any visible pitch, damage, or drainage concern should also be reviewed first.
Can cleaning fix overflow?
Cleaning can fix overflow caused by debris. It will not correct poor pitch, sagging, inadequate outlet capacity, or downspouts that cannot move water away effectively.

Repair and Replacement Questions
DUMMY
DUMMY
Does Maine Gutter Works handle repair requests?
Yes. Repair is an option on our current estimate form. We can assess visible problems such as isolated leaks, loose downspouts, clogs, or problem sections and explain whether a targeted repair or a broader replacement makes more sense.
When is replacement better than repair?
Replacement may be the better option when the system has repeated seam failures, widespread sagging, poor pitch, extensive deterioration, or a layout that continues to overflow after cleaning and adjustment.
Why do gutters overflow even when they are clean?
A clean gutter can still overflow if it is poorly pitched, undersized for the roof area, short on outlet capacity, overwhelmed by a valley, or connected to a downspout that cannot empty quickly enough.
Can leaking seams be repaired?
Some isolated seams or corners may be repairable. Repeated leaks across an older sectional system may be a sign that replacement will provide a more durable result.
Do gutter guards solve ice dams?
No. Ice dams are usually connected to heat loss, air leakage, insulation, ventilation, and uneven roof temperatures. Guards are part of the drainage system, not a substitute for correcting the building conditions that cause recurring ice dams.
